Product Advantages

1.Outstanding Filtration! Each bio-ball filter media is covered in spines to dramatically increase the surface area of each ball to nearly 2 square feet providing space for a massive number of beneficial bacteria to colonize. These good bacteria break down harmful organic waste. Just rinse and use.

2. Tough And Unique! Our bio-ball filter media spherical shape and precise spine placement permits them to pack tightly into any shape or filter type without losing surface area. Molded from high density plastic, these balls are lightweight but tough enough to keep their shape and will never degrade or wear out. Bio balls can be used loose or in the mesh bag with plastic zipper in which they are packaged.

3. Trusted Pond Media! Our Bio balls filter media are 100% polypropylene making them a safe reliable bio filter media for fresh and saltwater. They are manufactured for use in koi and water garden ponds, freshwater fish tanks, saltwater aquariums, aquaponics, fish hatcheries and much more.

4. Superior To Lava Rock: Over time, porous lava rock becomes clogged with debris decreasing its surface area so that its ability to house and grow good beneficial bacteria plummets. Our bio-ball filter media for aquarium fish pond uniquely spaced spines allow most debris to pass right through them. Lava rock has tiny pores which make it difficult to clean while bio balls in most applications never need cleaning. A bag of wet lava rock is many times heavier than our pond balls.

Customer Questions & Answers

Question: Can i throw the bio balls inside the tank water?

Answer: You can put our bio balls inside of a tank and beneficial bacteria will grow on them. Typically you want to place the bio balls in a chamber or bag after a filter pad. The filter pad will trap most of the free floating debris before getting to the bio balls.

Question: Cubic feet in the 300 count?

Answer: 300 Bio Balls will fill approximately 0.4 cubic feet.

Question: How often do I need to clean the bag of balls? I have been just rinsing the bag off with the balls inside every couple of weeks.

Answer: Most filtration systems have the water flow through a filter pad to remove most of the larger debris before water flows to the bio balls. With this type of system the bio balls remain fairly clean therefore they do not need to be rinsed or only need rinsing a few times a year.

Question: Do the balls float? It is very important to know for my application

Answer: Yes they will float by them selves but if you put enough they will fill up any space
